Summer Training Intensive
June 3 - 24, 2010
Program Description

The Summer Intensive, perennially one of Double Edge's most popular training programs, is ideal for artists of any discipline who are interested in developing their own work in an ensemble context. Over the course of three weeks students take part in 3-4 training sessions daily including:
-
physical training
-
vocal and instrumental music
-
work with large objects
-
design
-
puppetry
-
The sessions take place both in Double Edge's indoor training spaces and outside in the fields, hills, pond and pastures of the Farm Center. The program incorporates the creation of individual and group etudes (studies) which culminate in a public presentation directed by a Double Edge ensemble member.
The research in this summer’s program will use as a foundation the rich visual world of 20th-century painter Marc Chagall, whose images of flight, circus and parade offer new opportunities to explore narrative and the dramaturgy of image. The Summer Intensive is open to students of all levels of experience.

Testimonials
"The thing that I loved about the farm was that they believed that everyone had the power to create...it didn't matter what age you were, the group didn't consist of only actors; this led me to realize that the ability to make art is not restricted to a few great minds. It lies in all of us, if we can get through the layers that cover it. In a field where people continually say, 'you can't,' I found it revitalizing to have a company of performers telling me whole-heartedly that I could." - Richelle Meiss, '07
"Your training has a magical way of making the impossible accessible. I was humbled, focused, and inspired here. It turned my world upside-down. Thank you." - Rose McCaslin, '06
"The most interesting part of the program was the unknown - and the whole three weeks as an ever-growing process of moving within and toward the 'impossible,' fully supported by the double edge ensemble in a really genuine way...I recommend the program to those who want to discover their most malleable self and are willing and excited to walk with their greatest fears." - Mo Mulderig, '07
