John Peitso (He/Him/His) has collaborated with Double Edge since 1993 as music director, performer, and lighting designer. He uses breath as a conduit for the voice in his composition and throughout his training and leadership. Peitso works with the Ensemble, resident artists, as well as a community of fellow musicians. He performed and co-created with Double Edge as early as the 1990’s in Keter and Relentless and has, in recent years, developed the musical components of Double Edge’s work in performances. Peitso is currently a lead musician for Leonora, la maga y la maestra. In 2017 he worked on the Ashfield Town Spectacle, for which he was responsible for all musical events, including the parade. Peitso was lighting designer and lead musician for The Grand Parade, composed by Alexander Bakshi, and co-adapted and created the music with Micaela Farias Gomez and Manuel Uriona for Once a Blue Moon and its subsequent tours to Boston and Springfield. He has directed and arranged the music for many Spectacles at DE, including Leonora’s World. Peitso was the Technical Director/ Music Director at Charlestown Working Theater for 24 years.
