“I still "visit" your performance in my dreams lights, dance, colors and all time to time. It is wonderful when one form of art inspires another and all that for hundreds of years. You are an inspirational oasis in this vast country.”
-Peter Sis, Audience Member
“Visiting the Farm was such an incredible experience. Wish we could have seen the spectacle again tonight!"
~Ann Greer, Phillips Collection, Washington, D.C.
"With each new tableau, you think–how will they top this? Again and again, they can and do."
~The Boston Globe, July 2010
“What draws the audience is the visceral power of Double Edge’s images, the striking spectacles it stages, and the organic connections between the performances and their settings and between the performers and themselves.”
~Louise Kennedy, Boston Globe
“By using expansive and naturally beautiful topography, Klein and her collaborators create indelible images that would be impossible to stage in a single theatre space…the spectacular overload is thrilling.”
~Julia Whitworth, Theatre Journal
Since 2002, Double Edge Theatre has created a highly visual and imaginative performance known as the indoor/outdoor traveling Spectacle that takes place annually on the grounds of the company’s 100-acre Farm. The spectacles draw inspiration from myths and classical literature and lead the audience along the pastures, pond, river, and hills of the Farm as well as inside the barn. Double Edge has begun touring the Spectacles, first at Amherst College in September 2014 using the library and tree-lined courtyard on campus, and the overlying view of the Pioneer Valley. The Odyssey and Shahrazad will be reinvented in Norway in a fortress in Halden overlooking the North Sea! The Spectacle is a rare opportunity for community engagement and we hope to tour to universities as well as rural and urban environments.
