Carroll Durand: Co-Founder Emeritus
Carroll Durand co-founded Double Edge Theatre with Stacy Klein in 1982. She has developed numerous roles for the theatre in The Grand Parade, Shahrazad, The Firebird, the Disappearance, and Republic of Dreams. Durand also created roles and performed in Double Edge’s Song Trilogy (1987-1999) and The Women’s Cycle (1982-1986).
Prior to Double Edge, Durand designed over 100 productions and established an international reputation as an authority on baroque scenography. She is the recipient of numerous awards, including a National Endowment for the Humanities grant, a Marion and Jasper Whiting Foundation grant, and was recognized as the “Best in Boston” twice for scenic design and once for performance. Durand holds a BFA in Painting, an MFA in Stage Design, and a PhD in Theatre History and Criticism from Tufts University.
