Does Double Edge provide visas?
We do not provide visas, but can advise you on the respective visa application process for your country.

If you are from a country that is part of the visa waiver program, look up the stipulations of the visa waiver. For other nationalities, you should apply for a tourist visa.

APPLICATION

What are the age requirements?
You must be 18 or older to apply for any Double Edge Theatre training program. In certain cases, exceptions are made, which requires a conversation with the program director. Any applicant under 18 needs to have written permission from a parent or guardian to participate.

Is an audition required?
No, an audition is not required, only a written application. You can find an application on the corresponding program page in the training section of our website. We often conduct phone interviews with applicants after receiving an application.

What are the prerequisites for applying to a training program?
Aside from the age requirement, there are no set prerequisites for any of the programs. Participants have ranged in age from 18 to 80.

TUITION PAYMENTS

How do I pay for my tuition?
$500 tuition deposits are due within one week of your acceptance to any program. Your spot in the program cannot be held without a deposit. For all programs, your remaining tuition is due within one month of your acceptance OR by the first day of the month preceding your program start date. (For a program starting on February 10th, your full tuition is due by January 1.) You can pay for your tuition through Square Invoice, or by mailing cheque. For all training programs besides an Open Training you will receive an invoice through Square. Please note that there is a credit card fee if you pay your tuition through Square that is included in your invoice. You can pay by cheque to avoid the fee.
Cheques may be mailed to:

Payment plans
Payment plans are available only by special permission, and are agreed to via email.

Late payments
Late payments are subject to late fees. Participants cannot begin a program without having paid their full tuition.

Is tuition refundable?
We do not provide refunds for tuition, but we may be willing to use your payment as credit toward a future program on a case-by-case basis.

WITHDRAWALS / DEFERRALS

Withdrawing before the program start
Program tuitions are non-refundable, and tuition refunds are not given in the event of a program withdrawal. If the withdrawal occurs 8 weeks before the program start, a deferment to the following session is available. Deferment is only available for the following session. Your tuition will transfer, minus a $250 administrative fee.

Withdrawing after the program start
Program tuitions are non-refundable, and tuition refunds are not given when there is a withdrawal from a program after the program start date. Deferments are not available for participants who withdraw after their program start date.

Deferment requests
If you have been accepted to a program, you are able to defer to the next available session up until 8 weeks before your program start date. Deferment is also dependent on enrollment numbers and cannot be granted if the following program is full. There are no fees for a deferment.

EXPULSION
Illegal substances: use of any illegal substance on any of Double Edge’s properties will result in program expulsion.

MEDICAL & LIABILITY FORMS

Medical forms
An up-to-date medical form, signed by the participant, is due within three weeks before the start of the program. Failure to disclose a mental or physical medical condition can result in expulsion from the program. Participants cannot train with the company until they have submitted a medical form. You can fill out our medical form here >>

Liability forms

All training participants must sign a liability release form before participating in any training session.

Photograph/video permission form
Participants are also asked to sign a photographic/video permission form, which gives permission to be photographed or filmed by the ensemble during the course of their program.

LIVING ARRANGEMENTS, ETC

What type of clothes should I bring?
You will need separate clothes for training. These should be comfortable for movement and free of text, images, or logos. (Jeans, no matter how comfortable, are not a good option.) In addition to your training clothes, bring clothes according to the weather. During the Winter Intensive, the Spring Intensive, and towards the end of the Fall Artistic Immersion, you can expect cold temperatures and snow. You will be sent a full packing list after you have enrolled in your program. If you are enrolled in the Spectacle or Fall Immersion programs, you should bring black shoes or boots (not sneakers) that do not have labels or any other color on them for performance purposes.

Should I bring a towel or bedding?
Bed sheets and towels are provided at your residence.

Is food provided?
Meals are only provided 3 times daily for the Winter, Spring, and Summer Intensive programs. The Spectacle Immersion program provides meals during 2 weeks of the Summer Intensive and then one main meal and a light lunch daily, except on days off. During the Fall Immersion program, meals are not provided. During the Immersion programs, rides to local grocery stores are provided weekly and there is a kitchen at your residence.

Where will I be living?
The student house is located half a mile from the theater, at 551 Main Street, Ashfield. There are shared bedrooms (1-4 occupants per room) as well as a living room, dining room, kitchen, and bathrooms.

What is the schedule for my program and will I have time off?
The specific schedule for your program is created and shared on a weekly basis during the program. You can generally expect 1-2 days of time off each week during the Artistic Immersion program.

What if I want to stay longer than my program duration?
There are advanced programs, which are entered upon mutual decision between the participant and the ensemble during the course of their first program.
