Internships at Double Edge Theatre
Double Edge is currently seeking on a rolling basis applications for Internships based at 948 Conway Road, Ashfield, MA. The Internships are full-time, paid positions with housing and stipend included. Double Edge Theatre is committed to art justice and equity for all people in the workplace and, aligned with its current scholarship, programs encourages applications from Native American, African American and Latinx communities.
DOUBLE EDGE THEATRE, an artist-run organization, was founded in 1982 by Stacy Klein. The ensemble applies vigorous physical training and the principle of an artist’s autonomy to create work intimately woven with the community. In 1994, Double Edge moved from Boston to a 105-acre former dairy farm in rural Ashfield, MA, to create a sustainable artistic home. In 1996 Argentine actor, puppeteer Carlos Uriona joined DE and wove into the ensemble his community-based street theatre. Today, the Farm has become an International Center of Living Culture, including performance, international touring and artist collaboration, year-round theatre training, conversations, convenings, greening and farming initiatives, and a popular indoor-outdoor traveling spectacle which takes place alongside the hills, pastures, river, and gardens of the Center.
+ Arts Administration Internships
Double Edge seeks a staff intern to assist in the management of all aspects of the running of DE’s office admin, including box office, front of house, theatre management admin including development and programming assistance. The Intern is expected to be a quick learner, organized and hard working. This position includes communications, answering and making phone calls, assisting audience with box office and internal company scheduling. The Intern may be required to assist in other areas when necessary. Strong computer skills are needed, including proficiency in word processing and database software, although some of this (particularly the CRM) will involve onsite training. Housing is included for the 6 months period and food would be included from May through mid August, additional to stipend. There will be opportunities to observe rehearsals and aspects of the company’s creative and performance process, as well as possible further job opportunities.

+ Production Internships
The intern will have an opportunity to work under the guidance of the vastly experienced Technical Director, Visual Artists/Designers, Lighting Designer, Rigger and Set and Costume Designers. The intern is expected to bring energy and enthusiasm and be open to challenging tasks. He/She/They will work as part of a cohesive team and also on individual projects. The intern will work in a dynamic, challenging and rewarding artistic environment. Double Edge (DE) is a collaborative environment where interns will be able to focus on their interests and strengths and can also expect to work outside their chosen area of technical expertise. DE offers a fast-paced and exciting learning environment culminating in the annual DE Summer Spectacle performances on the Farm (June-mid Aug).

+ Training Programs Enrollment Internships
Double Edge seeks an Enrollment intern to assist in the organization, development and implementation of a successful recruitment and marketing strategy of DE’s Enrollment Department for Student Training Programs. This position requires excellent organizational skills to drive your team to reach their enrollment targets. The Intern is expected to be a quick learner, organized and hard working. This position includes communications, answering and making phone calls, scheduling, and the organization of multiple staff members appointments and deadlines. Strong computer skills are needed, including proficiency in spreadsheet/word processing and database software, although some of this (particularly the CRM) will involve onsite training. Housing is included for the 12 month period. There will be opportunities to observe rehearsals and trainings and aspects of the company’s creative and performance process, as well as possible further job opportunities.
- Recruiting and marketing strategy implementation in coordination with the Enrollment Director and Marketing team
- Organize team (from 2-5 members) and personally get involved in the recruitment effort to meet or exceed yearly enrollment goals
- Market research and analysis
- Liaise with administrative staff at College and Universities
- Advise prospective students on the programs in person or via telephone, guiding them through the enrollment process
- Support preparation of files for review and on-going follow up
- Ability to best use our CRM system, extract and interpret data
- Improve business strategies and work process systems to further enhance efficiency
