Ludmila Bakshi: Music and Vocal Direction

Ludmila Bakshi holds a Ph. D. in musicology from the Institute of Art Research in Moscow and has published numerous articles about contemporary music. As a musician, a soprano, she has performed throughout Europe, Japan and the United States, often in the works of her husband Alexander Bakshi. She has staged a dozen musical-theatrical productions in Russia, Poland and other countries. She oversaw the creation of the musical introduction to Kama Ginkas's production of Oscar Wilde's The Happy Prince (2000) and she teaches in Ginkas's directing course at the Moscow Art Theater School. She compiled and published the scores for Alexander Bakshi's A Hotel Room in the Town of N and The Metamorphosis in the book Scores for Two Plays (Moscow: Vsevolod Meyerhold Arts Center, 1999).
