Performance & Programming

Double Edge Theatre presents year-round programming, with performances in the Spring, Summer, and Fall. Our wildly popular Summer Spectacle leads audiences around the land of our stunning farm center. We host Member Events like our Argentinian Asado, artistic workshops, and create costumes, puppets, sculptures, and more.

Living Culture

Our Farm Center is host to artists, creators, and speakers from all over the world. Visitors coming for residencies and events are introduced to this special corner of the world, and often return to vacation, or even relocate. Your sponsorship shares your interests and values with our audiences.

Facilities

When Double Edge Theatre moved to Ashfield from Boston in 1994, this farm became the heart of our operation. Over the years we have restored buildings, built out spaces, and grown our operation to include a working farm, artist housing, workshop spaces, and rehearsal and performance space.

Community Building

From our training intensives to Community Days, we love sharing what we do! Scholarships for travel and participation enable us to bring even more people to Ashfield, making the work more inclusive and introducing a wider circle of people to the arts and culture happening here in Western Massachusetts.

Double Edge resides on the ancestral homelands of the Nipmuc, Pocumtuck, and the Wabanaki Confederacy. We acknowledge and recognize the Indigenous Peoples who reside here and those who have lived, cultivated, and travelled on these lands for millennia. Their presence must be named after having been invisibilized for hundreds of years.

We also name and honor Susannah Honesty and Heber Honestman, two formerly enslaved people who were the original founders of Huntstown, now called Ashfield.

On the platform of Art Justice, we build equity and solidarity with deliberation and intentionality. This commitment includes the artists with whom we collaborate; the neighbors with whom we trade or work; our residency and training participants; and the consultants who helped to guide us. The mission / values / vision / work of Double Edge will always reflect the larger population of our region / our state / our country. Our people, our Ensemble, our collaborators identify themselves rather than being defined by others.
