COVID-19 Testing and Vaccination:

Double Edge is adhering to the following policies, and is closely watching the status of local rules as well as the rate of COVID infection locally. All of the following policies are subject to change.

  • If arriving by airplane, the participant must connect with the DE Producing Team to go over health and safety procedures PRIOR to booking tickets.
  • We require all participants to email a photo of a negative rapid test before arrival. Once negative test results are received, participants are considered part of the Double Edge pod and may choose to wear a mask at their own comfort and discretion.
  • We require all participants to be fully vaccinated to attend the program, with exceptions made for medical reasons.

These guidelines and requirements are subject to change, as CDC and State mandates evolve. We will update all participants, should changes occur.

International

Yes. Double Edge works and performs internationally, and has a long and rich history of international collaboration. We have welcomed students from over 20 different countries in North America, South America, Asia, Africa, and Europe.

We do not provide visas, but can advise you on the respective visa application process for your country.

If you are from a country that is part of the visa waiver program, look up the stipulations of the visa waiver. For other nationalities, you should apply for a tourist visa.

Application

You must be 18 or older to apply for any Double Edge Theatre training program. In certain cases, exceptions are made, which requires a conversation with the program director. Any applicant under 18 needs to have written permission from a parent or guardian to participate.

No, an audition is not required, only a written application. You can find an application on the corresponding program page in the training section of our website. We conduct video interviews with applicants after receiving an application. There is no need to prepare a monologue.

Aside from the age requirement, there are no set prerequisites for any of the programs. Participants have ranged in age from 18 to 80.

Tuition Payments

Tuition deposits are due within one week of your acceptance to any program. Your spot in the program cannot be held without a deposit. For all programs, your remaining tuition is due within one month of your acceptance OR by two weeks preceding your program start date. (For a program starting on February 10th, your full tuition is due by January 1.)

You can pay for your tuition through Square Invoice, or by mailing cheque. For all training programs you will receive an invoice through Square. Please note that there is a credit card fee if you pay your tuition through Square that is included in your invoice. You can pay by cheque to avoid the fee.

Cheques may be mailed to:

Double Edge Theatre
Attn: Training Programs
948 Conway Road
Ashfield, MA 01330

Payment plans are available only by special permission, and are agreed to via email.

Late payments are subject to late fees. Participants cannot begin a program without having paid their full tuition.

If accepted, a non-refundable deposit is due within one week in order to secure your spot in the program.

The remaining tuition is due within four weeks of acceptance. All tuition payments are non-refundable.

Withdrawals / Deferrals

Program tuitions are non-refundable, and tuition refunds are not given in the event of a program withdrawal. If the withdrawal occurs 8 weeks before the program start, a deferment to the following session is available. Deferment is only available for the following session. Your tuition will transfer, minus a $250 administrative fee.

Program tuitions are non-refundable, and tuition refunds are not given when there is a withdrawal from a program after the program start date. Deferments are not available for participants who withdraw after their program start date.

If you have been accepted to a program, you are able to defer to the next available session up until 8 weeks before your program start date. Deferment is also dependent on enrollment numbers and cannot be granted if the following program is full. There are no fees for a deferment. We cannot take any deferment requests a year after your originally intended program.

Expulsion

Double Edge Theatre has a no-tolerance illegal substances policy and therefore prohibits all illegal drugs on the property and housing. Double Edge Theatre reserves the right to ask anyone either or both in possession and in use of illegal drugs to leave the program.

Medical & Liability Forms

An up-to-date medical form, signed by the participant, is due within three weeks before the start of the program. Failure to disclose a mental or physical medical condition can result in expulsion from the program. Participants cannot train with the company until they have submitted a medical form.

All training participants must sign a liability release form before participating in any training session.

Participants are also asked to sign a photographic/video permission form, which gives permission to be photographed or filmed by the ensemble during the course of their program.

Living Arrangements, Etc.

You will be sent a detailed packing list after you have enrolled in your program. We highly recommend separate clothes for training. These should be comfortable for movement and free of text, images, or logos. (Jeans, no matter how comfortable, are not a good option.) In addition to your training clothes, bring clothes according to the weather. During the Winter Intensive, the Spring Intensive, and towards the end of the Fall Intensive, you can expect cold temperatures and snow.

If you are enrolled in the Spectacle Immersion program, you should bring black shoes or boots (not sneakers) that do not have labels or any other color on them for performance purposes.

Bed sheets and towels are provided at your residence.

Meals are only provided 3 times a day for the Winter, Spring, Summer, and Fall Intensive programs.

The Spectacle Immersion program provides meals during the Summer Intensive and then one main meal and a light lunch daily, except on days off. Rides to local grocery stores are provided weekly and there is a kitchen at your residence.

Participants will be housed in accommodations with one of our community partners. More information will be given before arrival for the program. Those who live within commuting distance and wish to commute for the program, please let us know!

The specific schedule for your program is created and shared daily during the program. You can generally expect 1-2 days of time off during the longer programs.

PHOTOGRAPHY NOTICE & POLICY

Notice: Upon arrival in the program you will be asked to sign a waiver that grants us permission to use your image in our materials. If a training program is to be documented, we will introduce the photographer/videographer to you. Both during and after the program our team will make a selected album for sharing with our audience and social media. If you would like to access other photos outside of this selection please reach out to us via email at marketing@doubleedgetheatre.org. Please be aware that it might take us up to a month or longer to answer that request for you.

At any point if desired, you may opt out of your name being tagged and associated with an image.

General Photo & Video Policy for all: We do not have rights over the beautiful land where we stand. With this acknowledgment and recognition, we are happy for you to share videos and photos of the farm, land and buildings without our permission. We only ask that you ask permission if you take videos or photos during a DE event and/or training program where we have to have certain policies in place in regards to sharing other peoples images. If you wish to post an image or video where another person is dominantly featured outside of a DE event or training program, please ask their permission to share that material.
