Our method is based on search, not on form. We offer an adventure with space for both wildness and vulnerability.
This holistic methodology draws on the artist’s full potential — emotional, imaginative, physical, vocal — to drive ensemble collaboration, individual exploration, and performance creation.
We also name and honor Susannah Honesty and Heber Honestman, two formerly enslaved people who were the original founders of Huntstown, now called Ashfield.
On the platform of Art Justice, we build equity and solidarity with deliberation and intentionality. This commitment includes the artists with whom we collaborate; the neighbors with whom we trade or work; our residency and training participants; and the consultants who helped to guide us. The mission / values / vision / work of Double Edge will always reflect the larger population of our region / our state / our country. Our people, our Ensemble, our collaborators identify themselves rather than being defined by others. Double Edge protects the silence of our internal space, while simultaneously ensuring that no one is silenced
