Double Edge Theatre acknowledges and recognizes the Indigenous People – the Nipmuc and the Mohican, who have been present and lived on these lands for millennia, and whose travel and cultivation of this land we now benefit from.
We lift up the legacy of the countless peoples of African descent whose blood, bones, bodies, brilliance, and unpaid labor also built and sustained these lands.
Truth, reconciliation, rematriation, and healing will only come with acknowledgment as a first step, followed by cultural and economic reparations and other restorative actions.
On the platform of Art Justice, we build equity and solidarity with the deliberation and intentionality. This commitment includes the artists with whom we collaborate; the neighbors with whom we trade or work; our residency and training participants; and the consultants who helped to guide us. The mission / values / vision / work of Double Edge will always reflect the larger population of our region / our state / our country. Our people, our Ensemble, our collaborators identify themselves rather than being defined by others. Double Edge protects the silence of our internal space, while simultaneously ensuring that no one is silenced.
